True Honor Academy Stories

The greatest thing that I remember taking away from the Honor Academy was just how much God wooed my heart to get closer to His through the different elements that the Honor Academy has to offer.
There is a night and day difference in my heart and life because I attended there. My life was beyond changed! I think of three major components that were responsible for my growth as a person:
First, my Core Advisor my first year made such a huge impact on my life. She mentored me throughout the year, walked me through the issues in my life, listened to me, and taught me how to listen by her own example. She created in me a hunger to know Jesus from the depths and core of my being. The greatest thing that she did for me and the rest of the girls under her was intercede for us. The greatest thing she prayed over us? —That we would give our hearts over to the lover of our Soul, Jesus, and Jesus only. Her prayers worked!
Secondly, God used Life Transforming Events (LTEs) to get me to understand and know His heart. My whole life shifted in one particular event that the Honor Academy has called the Tribal retreat, or Unreached Peoples Groups LTE. It’s where half of the internship dresses up as missionaries, the other half dresses up as tribal people, and the two groups role play for 24 hours in the woods and fields at the Teen Mania campus. That experience set the course for my life in the right direction. Up until then, I was so consumed with changing the world and just constantly pouring out in advancing the Gospel…but that was all I was concerned about. At the Tribal retreat, I learned in a very powerful way that my life means nothing if I do not know Jesus intimately. It all clicked into place, when I realized that preaching the Gospel to the lost is an outflow of knowing the Heart of God intimately first. This LTE, along with the Fasting LTEs allowed me to experience God in ways that I would never have known.
Finally, the last thing that I could say changed my life so much at the Honor Academy is the environment. It is a perfect environment for you to cultivate maturity at a rapid rate which stays with you. Spiritual, emotional, mental maturity all take place there if you allow yourself to grow. It is an environment for you to practice socially interacting with people from all walks of life. The friends that you bond and get close with at the Honor Academy are life long. The Honor Academy also creates a great atmosphere for men to become real men, and for women to become real women. Masculinity, and femininity are played out in their proper perspectives.

My Core Advisor, the LTEs, and the every day hands-on maturity experiences changed my life. I would never trade my two years at the Teen Mania Honor Academy for ANYTHING.
